Isabel Ribeiro´s lab is aims finding new alternatives to fight infections and for that different approaches and  methodologies have been followed such as the:

• Biosynthesis of antimicrobial compounds (e.g. antimicrobial glycolipids) and their LC-MS characterization

• Functionalization of biomaterials surfaces with biological active molecules.

​

• Characterization of innovative biomaterials with pharmaceutical/biomedical application

 

• Design of platforms to prevent medical devices (e.g. catheters, implants) related infections

​

• Design of platforms to prevent food contamination (e.g. functionalization of food packages)
